Description
7 Highgate is a rectangular two-storey house elevated on a high plinth made of dressed natural rock. The building features limestone rubble sides, with the primary gable ends constructed of sandstone, although only the one facing the road is currently visible. This gable is carefully built with rough-dressed, squared blocks of greenish stone. The upper section contains several former openings that have been infilled with limestone; one opening has a plain sandstone lintel and jambs, while two upper openings feature expressed timber lintels. There is a primary kneeler on the left (east) side that has a carved face. The house has a modern shallow-pitched slate roof and a squat limestone gable chimney. Entrances on both sides have modern uPVC doors, accompanied by modern tilting windows.
Inside, the main ground-floor room showcases a 17th-century stopped-chamfered lateral ceiling beam with ogee stops. The rest of the interior is modern.
