Description
Cymmo is a farmhouse that dates back to the 18th century and features two storeys, with a previously noted attic lit by dormer windows. The building has a long three-unit plan with a main three-window range and a lower rear wing. It is constructed from roughly coursed local slate rubble, which has been whitewashed, and is topped with a slate roof. The farmhouse has stacks on the gable ends, with the left stack truncated below the ridge line, and an axial stack to the left of the current entrance.
The details of the building have all been renewed, although they likely correspond to earlier openings. The entrance is offset to the right, possibly not in its original position, and there is a single window to its right and two windows to its left. There is a small recess between the first-floor windows, which may have been the site of an earlier tablet. The doorway is covered by a modern canopy porch, and all windows have been replaced with uPVC, substituting earlier sash windows. The lower rear wing features a doorway at its angle with the main range, enlarged windows, and a first-floor doorway with an external staircase leading to the gable end, which also has a stack.
The interior has not been inspected, but according to an earlier description, the ground floor includes parallel beams with stopped wide bevels and old joists, a wide inglenook with a beam above, and oak ledged doors with two ovolo-moulded panels on one side. There is a low wide fireplace and low doors in the wing, along with a modern window.
