Description
The barn at Pendre Farm is a large rubble structure that dates back to the 17th century and was enlarged to the southeast in the 19th century. It features a corrugated iron roof. The older section of the barn is positioned at right angles to the slope, aligning with the farmhouse. On the northwest side, there is a doorway located towards both the upper and lower ends, with the upper doorway having a cill. Slit ventilators are placed between these doorways, along with one loft opening in the center and a later opening at the lower end. At the top end, there is an additional later opening with a swept roof, and to the right of this opening is a vertical joint that indicates the end of the 17th-century barn.
The 19th-century cross range to the right has a slightly higher roof and features a boarded door on the right. There is also another doorway on the right gable with a loft door above it. During this period, a lean-to was added to the southeast side of the earlier range.
The earlier range boasts a four-bay roof supported by tie beams, queen struts, trenched purlins, and a ridge. There was once a partition wall between the upper two bays, but only the braces remain. The frame of the partition between the lower two bays is still intact, resting on a rubble footing. The later range is lofted.
