Description

The building is an L-shaped barn and byre range at Lower Pendre, dating from the 18th century. It forms two sides of the farmyard, with the barn running parallel to the road and the byre range at right angles, creating a passage between the two. Constructed of stone rubble, it features a roof that is partly covered with Welsh slate and partly with corrugated material.

The barn includes high ventilation slits to the right of replaced double opposing doors, with steps leading to a granary located under a porch. There are also two loft openings. The byre has doorways facing the yard that are topped with timber lintels, and the rear of the byre features a deep buttress. Additionally, there are cartshed bays located at the rear of the granary.

Inside, the barn is supported by pegged tie beam trusses and has three rows of trenched purlins. The byre contains a feed passage at the rear and a loft above, supported by pegged collar trusses and similar purlins.
