Cartshed, Barn, Byre and Shed at Hendre Ddu

The building is a U-shaped range of vernacular farm buildings located on the north side of the yard at Hendre Ddu. It consists of a two-storey cartshed to the west, a barn to the north, and a byre to the east. The structures are constructed from local stone random rubble, with some repairs made in brick. They feature Welsh slate gabled roofs with oversailing slate verges and exposed purlin ends.

The cartshed has an open front facing the yard, supported by three bays with segmental stone arches on square piers. Above, there are two windows in the loft, and a freestanding rubble wall is located to the south. The barn has a larger, near storey height opening from the 20th century on the left, with a steel lintel. To the east, there is a doorway with a segmental stone arch and stone ashlar jamb on the left side, along with a brick pier and a later opening to the right. The single-storey byre features a central projecting gable with a segmental-headed opening on the east elevation. Additionally, there is a four-bay single-storey shed attached to the east gable of the barn.

A complete inspection of the interiors was not possible during the resurvey. The cartshed and threshing barn have open rafter roofs supported by through purlins and kingpost trusses.
