Description

Hendre Ddu is a large two-storey L-plan farmhouse built from local stone random rubble, featuring larger rubble quoins. The roof is made of Welsh slate with gabled sections, oversailing eaves, and verges that display exposed rafters and purlin-ends. The brick gable and ridge stacks have oversailing courses.

The symmetrical front elevation, which faces south, is slate-hung and consists of three bays with 8/8 sash windows. The first-floor windows are located in gabled half-dormers. A central porch made of stone rubble includes an 18-pane window with a stone lintel and sill in the gable end, along with a side entrance to the east that features a gothic arch and an 8-pane part-glazed door.

The east elevation has a varied arrangement of windows, including 8/8 sash windows, one 24-pane cast iron window, and a boarded door, all of which are topped with cambered brick arches and have stone sills. The rear elevation contains a bay with a 24-pane cast iron window with cambered brick arches on the left side, an 8/8 sash window with a stone lintel and sill on the ground floor, and a 4-pane casement window on the first floor. The rear wing has a rendered gable wall to the north and features three bays of 8/8 sash windows with cambered brick arches and stone sills on the west elevation.

The interior was not accessible for inspection at the time of the resurvey.
