Description

This is a group of two monuments located in the churchyard of the Church of St Digain. One monument is dedicated to Margaret Sandbach and features a black marble or slate urn on a sandstone pedestal. The pedestal has a tall, unmoulded cap stone with inwardly inclined faces that resembles a cloth draped over the monolithic shaft, which sits on a simply moulded base. The primary inscription is found on the east side of the shaft, with additional inscriptions added to the north and south sides, all in incised lettering using sans-serif capitals. The second monument is a large sandstone ledger slab to the south, which covers the entrance to a vault and has an incised inscription reading "HAFODUNOS" in V-cut sans-serif capitals.
