Description
This is a barn attached to Pendean, likely built in the late 17th century, with some minor later alterations. The structure is made of roughcast cob on a slate-stone plinth, which is higher on the west side. It features a hipped corrugated-iron roof at the rear of the main range. The barn has a T-plan layout, with a short range connected to the farmhouse, Pendean.
The main range includes a plank door with strap hinges leading to a loft in the front gable. There is a mounting block attached to the right wall and plank doors located at the left angle with the short range. The short range has a small window to the left of a cob-infilled doorway, with an opposing doorway at the rear.
Inside, the main range has a continuous loft and a collar truss roof supported by seven bays with laid-on purlins. The short range features principal rafters with short curved feet where they meet the main range. The roof has been raised, and the collar truss to the left is contemporary with this alteration. Pendean itself is not included in this listing.
