Description

The Haven is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with later additions and alterations. It features a painted roughly coursed slate-stone exterior, rendered at the rear, and has a slate roof. The building is designed in an L-shape, with a range projecting to the rear on the right side. It stands two storeys tall and has a chamfered plinth and deep eaves. The front has a slightly irregular arrangement of three windows, all of which are late 18th century or 19th century two-light casements with L-hinges, except for the lower right window, which has three lights. The ground-floor windows have voussoirs and projecting keystones above slightly cambered heads. There is a roughly central six-panel door located beneath a 19th-century flat-roofed open porch supported by chamfered wood posts. The house has integral end stacks with slate drips.

The rear range features a central doorway, with 18th-century casements to the upper left and lower right (the latter being iron-barred), and late 20th-century casements to the lower left and upper right, along with an integral end stack. Inside, the ground floor of the main range has been opened up into one room and contains open fireplaces with wood lintels, one of which has a cloam oven. The left part features roughly carved joists. An attached converted farm building at right angles to the front is not of special architectural interest.
