Description
The Jubilee Fountain, located to the northwest of Pierce's Memorial, is a Grade II listed cast iron fountain dating from 1887. It is set within an octagonal basin made of moulded terracotta, which features smooth slate copings and decorative impressed chevron, nailhead, and wave mouldings. The fountain is designed in the shape of an opening tulip and stands approximately 1.5 meters tall. It has a moulded base resting on a circular plinth, with cast plaques on each face that read: 'Victoria Jubilee 1887'; 'Albert Edward, Prince of Wales'; 'Albert, Prince Consort'; and 'Alexandra, Princess of Wales.' Surrounding the fountain basin is a modern inlaid stone pavement.
