Description
Nos 78 and 80 Vale Street are two adjoining buildings constructed from snecked limestone blocks, topped with a continuous graded slate roof. They feature brick chimneys with dentilated upper sections, with one chimney located laterally to no. 78 and the other centrally positioned on no. 80. Each unit has an entrance that includes a boarded door with a glazed upper section and a canopy porch supported by brackets.
To the right of the entrance on no. 78 is a storeyed, canted bay window, which has slate-hanging in the center and a bracketed, projecting gable that is also slate-hung. The bay window has 12-pane central sashes and 8-pane outer sashes, all of which are horned. The left-hand unit, no. 80, features an additional 12-pane sash window above the entrance on the first floor, which breaks the eaves and is set within a low hipped dormer. To the far left of no. 80 is an arched entrance with a boarded door that provides access to a through-passage leading to the rear.
