Description
84 Vale Street is a large house built in the late 19th century, featuring two and a half storeys. It is constructed of fine snecked limestone with rusticated quoins and has a slate roof with a lateral chimney on the left side, which faces the garden. The facade showcases a wide gable with a coped and kneelered parapet.
On the left side, there is a projecting porch made of sandstone ashlar, which has an arched entrance accessed by three stone steps. The entrance features recessed eight-panel doors topped with a decorative semi-circular fanlight. Above the porch, a polygonal bay rises from a chamfered plinth and is adorned with a moulded cornice band. This bay has a moulded cornice and windows that have plain lower sections and leaded upper sections, capped with a hipped slate roof and lead flashings.
To the right of the porch on the ground floor, there is a tripartite window group with dividing slab mullions and chamfered lintels, featuring leaded cross-windows. The first floor above has similar paired windows, with leaded upper glazing and plain lower glazing, and an expressed segmental relieving arch. At the apex of the gable, there is a small three-light mullioned leaded window.
The interior was not inspected during the survey.
