Description
The Morris Monument is a pair of identical obelisk monuments located in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary Magdalene. Each monument features a gritstone die with a moulded cap and base, topped by a short pyramidal obelisk that has a pointed top. One obelisk commemorates Robert Morris of Cefn Hir, Fynnydd Isaf, who died in 1838, and his wife Jane Morris, who also died in the same year. An additional inscription on the back notes that Robert Morris died in 1869 at the age of 79. The monuments are enclosed in iron railings adorned with halberd finials and fluted urn terminals on the stanchions.
