Description
The cowhouse at Maes y Meillion is a long, single-storey structure built with well-coursed and roughly dressed boulders, featuring longer slabs as quoins and at the coped gables. It has a random slate roof that slopes down lower at the rear, a typical design for cowhouses in the Ardudwy region.
The east elevation includes outer doorways with boarded heck doors and 2x2-pane windows in the inner bays, one of which was originally a doorway. There is a small opening in the south gable and a pitching hole on the north side, along with a single doorway in the rear wall. Additionally, a block-work addition connects the cowhouse to a neighbouring barn.
Inside, the structure features pegged tie-beam trusses with collars.
