Description
Spar is a two-storey commercial building featuring a continuous ground-floor shop front and a three-window first floor. It is constructed of rubble with a whitened facade made of roughly-dressed, snecked, squared blocks. The medium-pitched slate roof has three irregularly-spaced ashlar chimneys, along with plain banding and capping. The shop front dates from the late 19th century or early 20th century and includes a modern signboard on a fascia with simply-moulded ends. There are two bay plain glazed panels on either side of a central entrance, and to the right, there is an entrance leading to the first floor, which has an original door with a two-panel glazed upper section and a plain rectangular overlight. The first floor features three recessed, 24-pane unhorned sash windows that are asymmetrically spaced.
To the left of the building, there is a short stretch of unwhitened rubble wall that stands approximately 3 meters high and includes an entrance with a modern door. The unwhitened rear facade has asymmetrical openings, with a tall 18-pane stair-light to the left and two 12-pane sash windows to the right on both floors; the upper floor windows have modern external wooden slatted shutters. The interior of the shop has been modernized.
