Description
Gelligan-fawr is a two-storey house built of rubble and whitewashed, topped with a slate roof. The front elevation has three window bays and is approximately symmetrical, featuring a central entrance with a boarded door that has a glazed panel. On either side of the entrance, there are 12-paned horned sash windows on both floors, each with heavy sawn stone lintels and square section label moulds with drop ends. To the right gable end, there is a later outbuilding attached.
The house has a double-pile plan, with two reception rooms at the front flanking a stair hall. Each reception room has a fireplace on the end wall; the larger one on the left likely serves as the original living parlour and has a suspended floor. At the rear, there are two narrow rooms, with the hallway extending into a pantry and the kitchen located in the left room, which features a large fireplace. The floors are slate flagged. On the first floor, matchboarded ceilings run throughout, coved to the outside walls, and there is a service room above the pantry. The doors are made of planks.
