Smithy and Workshop Range

The Smithy and Workshop Range is a single-storey building constructed in slate, dating from the late 19th century or early 20th century. It features large boarded double doors on the left, which are accessible via a rail track, and a large multi-paned steel-framed window on the right. To the right of this window, there are two additional sections, each with a central double entrance flanked by narrower windows. The roof has two tin louvres on the right side.

Inside, there are three large workshops separated by plastered walls, with the smithy section located on the right. This area retains its original equipment and fittings, including two forges with iron hoods and internal brick flues. Rail tracks run into the building for transportation purposes. The main workshop also retains work surfaces, tools, and a gantry crane.

This building is included for its group value with other listed items at Maenofferen, representing an exceptionally complete example of a slate quarry level.
