Description
Villa Winch is a two-storey villa-scale building dating from the 19th century, featuring rendered elevations and a hipped, pantiled roof. The front elevation, which faces southeast, is symmetrical and includes an advanced two-bay central section flanked by broad single bays. Stucco pilasters define these sections, and the central part has a moulded parapet with urn finials on the right and left. The building has 12-pane sash windows on both floors, with trompe l'oeil oculi positioned below the parapet. The outer bays on the first floor have tripartite windows, where the 12-pane sashes are accompanied by narrow 8-pane outer lights. In contrast, the ground-floor openings feature part-glazed doors instead of windows in the center, all topped with segmental plaster arches.
A parapetted stair curves to the left, providing access to a first-floor entrance on the southwest elevation. This entrance features a part-glazed door with flanking lights arranged in a tripartite formation, and it is recessed within a balconied loggia. Below this, there is a ground-floor recessed balcony with a similar door arrangement, set within a wide depressed arch. At the southeast corner, a short section of link wall with an arch connects Villa Winch to Chantry. In front of the main elevation, there is a balustraded terrace.
