Description

The Willows is a two-storey villa, likely built in the 19th century, with a square shape and a double depth central entry plan. The building is entirely covered in stucco and painted, probably over brick, and features a Welsh slate roof with red brick stacks. The main entrance was relocated from the south to the east elevation in the late 20th century.

On the south (garden) elevation, there is a central double door with a glazed upper half and a transom light above, framed by a simple architrave. To the right of the door is a tripartite sash window with 6 over 6 panes, flanked by two 2 over 2 panes. To the left is a later 3-light window, with each light containing 3 panes and an overlight of 3 panes. The full-width hipped tented verandah is supported by eight slim wrought iron piers. The upper floor features three plain sash windows with 6 over 6 panes and stone cills. The roof has wide eaves and is hipped over the entire structure.

The east (entrance) front has central blind panels on both floors. The ground floor includes two 6 over 6 pane sashes and a large late 20th century pedimented Roman Doric porch to the right, which has a late 20th century door. The upper floor also has two 6 over 6 pane sashes with stone cills. The roof here, too, has wide eaves and is hipped, with a central stack along the ridge. To the right, there is a two-storey lean-to addition featuring a small window below and a 6 over 6 pane sash above. The other two elevations are more utilitarian in appearance.

Inside, the villa has been extensively modernised, and the layout has changed due to the relocation of the front door. However, some early 19th century joinery remains.
