Description

Ty'r Morwydd, also known as St Michael's Convent, is a residence built with roughcast render that is unpainted, featuring a tiled roof and red brick stacks. The building has a double depth central entry plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic. It has five windows arranged in a 2:1:2 pattern, with the central section projecting slightly forward and topped with a low crowning pediment. A small portico with fluted columns leads up to a panelled door. All windows are 6 over 6 pane sashes with keystones, and the pediment displays a central coat-of-arms. The roof has a moderate pitch and is adorned with a coped parapet and two gabled dormers, which have bargeboards and 3 over 3 pane sashes that were likely added after 1934, probably in 1956. The large gable stacks have also been partly rebuilt. The main elevation is largely obscured by tree growth.

Attached to the north gable is a large teaching block dated 1956. The rear elevation of the main house features a central gabled stair projection with a large arched sash, flanked on the upper floor by two 6 over 6 pane sashes on either side, while the lower floor is obscured. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey.
