Description
2a Lower Monk Street is a three-storey building with a smooth rendered and painted exterior, topped by a natural slate roof and featuring red brick stacks and painted quoin pilasters. The building has a double depth central entry plan and three windows across the front. The entrance includes a basket arch doorway with a six-panel door and a fanlight above, along with two glazed panels in the panelled door. A porch with Tuscan columns, an entablature, and triglyphs frames the doorway, which is further enhanced by pilasters surrounding it.
The windows are plain six-over-six pane sashes with stone cills, although the window to the left of the front door was restored from a different type around 2002. The upper floor windows feature a three-over-six pane design. The building is topped with a moulded cornice and a low parapet, and it has a plain moderate pitch roof with rebuilt gable stacks. The left side of the building is plain, featuring one window on the ground floor. The rear elevation has not been inspected, and the interior was also not inspected during the resurvey.
