Description
28 Monk Street is a two-storey building constructed from roughly squared red sandstone rubble. Originally, it was rendered in roughcast, but this has been removed since it was listed in 1974. The building features a natural slate roof with stone stacks and has a single depth central plan with a rear outshut.
The facade has three windows arranged as 1 + 1 + 1, with the central window set slightly forward. There is a plain doorway that includes a part-glazed door and a flat hood above. All the windows are late 20th-century plastic units. The low gable at the center has plain bargeboards, and the main roof has a low pitch with gable stacks. Iron spear-head railings are attached to the front of the property, and there is a single-storey outshut at the rear. The rear elevation has been altered.
The interior has not been inspected during the resurvey, but it is noted to have a curved stair with a continuous handrail along the back wall.
