Description

The Cloisters is a tall Victorian Gothic detached building set in its own grounds. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring three bays, including a gabled wing that projects forward to the left. The structure is built from coursed hammer-dressed masonry, accented with pale stone dressings such as quoins and window and door surrounds. The steep slate roofs include a panelled Gothic top on a projecting stone stack located on the north gable end, along with a pair of cut-down brick stacks on the south elevation. The advanced wing displays a carved figure of a bishop in a pointed niche in the attic, with three- and four-light Tudor mullioned and transomed windows below, each featuring rectangular dripmoulds. The main range has two-, three-, and four-light windows of a similar style, along with a doorway situated under a shallow pointed arch in the angle of the building.

A tall masonry garden wall borders the road, featuring a Gothic arched doorway beneath a stepped parapet, which includes an eroded shield in a panel. The doorway is fitted with a boarded door that has strapwork hinges.
