Description
Mount Elton is a substantial two-storey Gothic house built in the mid-19th century, set in its own grounds overlooking Highdale Road. The building features rubble walls with ashlar dressings. A central gabled section projects slightly forward, flanked by smaller gables on either side. It has steep tiled roofs adorned with ridge cresting, and the gables are decorated with curved and cusped bargeboards topped with finials. Tall Tudor-style chimney stacks are positioned diagonally in pairs. The main gable has a two-light Gothic window beneath a drip mould, while the first floor includes four-light canted bays under lean-to roofs. A weathered string course runs above the ground floor, which also features larger bays with similar detailing. The entrance is located in the left gable end, sheltered by a two-storey porch.
