Description

Highdale Farmhouse, situated on Highdale Hill and accessible by a path from Highdale Avenue, occupies the site of the medieval Highdale Chapel. The farmhouse is likely of 17th-century origin, although it has elements dating back to the 14th century. It is a long, two-storey building constructed of rubble walls. The roof is tiled with pantiles, partly ruined at the time of survey, and features end parapets and stone stacks. There are five windows, each fitted with wooden casements containing two to five lights. A small, plain wooden door is located towards the right end of the building. A lower range, containing what is known as the Chapel Room, is attached to the rear. The interior is believed to retain a 14th-century fireplace.
