Description

STATION ROAD 1. 1633 (East Side) Claremont SY 1288 7/9 II 2. Circa 1830 large stucco villa of 2 and 3 storeys due to sloping site. Possibly enlargement of earlier structure as rear wall is of stone rubble and brick. Some alterations and modernisation. Low pitch hipped slate roof, the eaves swept out on 2 sides with fretted valance to cover 2nd floor balcony and 1st floor balcony (as verandah on 2 storey south side). The supports have been renewed. 3 storey west front has irregular fenestration. 3 windows 2nd floor 2 on 1st floor, flush framed pointed Gothic casements and a canted bay on 2nd floor of 3 round headed lights, taller to front, with delicate marginal and intersecting glazing. Entrance recessed to left on 1st floor balcony: door of 4 panels, 2 glazed, side lights and pointed fanlight. Ground floor garages formerly stables. 2 storey south front has 2 later French windows to both floors. On this front the east of verandah is glazed in. Picturesque despite alterations.
