Description

STATION ROAD 1. 1633 (West Side) Lodge at entrance to drive leading to Sidmouth Urban District Offices SY 1288 7/285 II 2. Early to mid C19 lodge probably dating from Mr.Fish's occupation of "Knowle Cottage" viz. Sidmouth Urban District Offices, Station Road. 2 storeys, 1st floor in attic. Crazed rubble with rough hewn stone quoins + plan with steep pitch hipped and gable end tiled roofs. Bargeboards with tracery pattern and finials. Entrance front has 2-light casement 1st floor with Gothic glazing. 3 centred heads to lights. Stone mullion and surround. Ground floor has rectangular hipped roof bay on plinth. 3 mullioned lights to front, one each side, as on 1st floor. Projecting stone porch with traceried bargeboards to gable. Chamfered stone 4 centred arched surround to plank door with ornate iron hinges.
