Description
Boughton Villa is a villa built around 1820, with later additions and alterations. The building features stucco over brick and has a hipped slate roof, with a stucco stack on the left end and two stacks on the hip, all topped with oversailing courses and pots. A cast-iron balcony enhances its exterior.
The villa has a double depth plan with a central entrance and a service range at the rear. It stands two storeys high and has three first-floor windows. The façade is accented by end Tuscan pilasters, a central breakforward, a crowning frieze, and wide eaves. The outer windows are 8/8 sashes, while the central first-floor window features 8-pane French windows with margin-lights, all set in plain reveals with sills. The ground floor windows are in taller, round-arched reveals adorned with plasterwork fans.
The central entrance consists of a four-panel door, with the lower two panels being flush-beaded and the upper panels raised-and-fielded, all within a Doric porch. Above the porch is a balcony decorated with a double-heart-and-lozenge motif.
On the left side of the building, there are three first-floor windows, with the outer openings being blind. The remaining first-floor windows are 8/8 sashes, and the ground floor windows are in taller, round-arched reveals, two of which also have plasterwork fans. The rear of the villa features both 8/8 and 6/6 sashes, along with a four-flush-panel door.
Inside, the villa retains original joinery, including panelled shutters on some windows and six-panel doors.
