Description
Mortimer Cottage (No. 103) and Laystone Cottage (No. 105) are two houses that were originally one house, built in the late 18th century with later alterations. They are constructed of pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond and feature a slate roof that is hipped on the left side, with a brick ridge stack at the left and a stack at the right end. The building has two storeys and four first-floor windows, all of which are 8/8 flush sashes. The third first-floor sash is blind and painted, and all windows have flat arches made of rubbed brick.
The entrance is located off-centre to the right and features a six-panel door, where the lower panels are flush beaded and the upper panels are raised and fielded, set within a timber pilastered surround. There is a modillion eaves band along the roofline. To the left return, there is another entrance with a six-panel door (now part-glazed), which also has lower flush beaded panels and upper raised and fielded panels, framed in a similar doorcase.
The interior has not been inspected. Mortimer Cottage and Laystone Cottage form a group with Nos 107, 109, and 111 Bransford Road.
