Description
These three cottages, numbered 1-7 High Street, Tremadog, are built as a single range. They are constructed of squared local quarried stone laid in regular courses, with a graded slate roof that projects eaves and includes added skylights. There are three stone stacks.
No. 1 is a two-window cottage and adjoins the Market Hall on its left side. It features a replacement half-glazed door on its left side, and replacement 12-pane hornless sash windows. A 1-storey rear wing extends from the rear, featuring an end stone stack and replaced windows. A vertical joint separates No. 1 from the rest of the row, indicating a later construction phase for the remainder.
Nos. 3-5 were originally two properties. They feature a replacement boarded door positioned left of centre, a surviving window in its original opening to the left, and three altered windows to the right, which replaced a former shop front. These altered windows retain original slate lintels but have later brick jambs. All ground-floor windows are modern. The upper storey has two small 12-pane sash windows. The rear elevation displays replacement windows and an added dormer.
No. 7 is a double-fronted cottage with a central half-glazed fielded-panel door with marginal glazing. Its windows are 2-pane sashes with sills. To the right side are communal stone steps. The rear of No. 7 incorporates replacement doors and windows in the lower storey, and horizontal-sliding sashes in the upper storey.
The cottages belong to a group of buildings numbered 1-7 High Street in Tremadog.
