Description
The Former Sawmill Manager's House is a 2-storey building designed in a T-plan layout, featuring a gabled range on the left that also extends to the rear. The exterior is constructed of roughly coursed rubblestone with buttered pointing, topped with a slate roof that has carved purlin ends.
On the main range, there is a 2-light, 16-paned window on the right side of the ground floor, and directly above it, a 4-paned sash window in a gabled dormer that breaks the eaves. To the left, there is a small 2-light eaves window above a gabled stone porch, which has a shaped outer arch and an inner 4-panel door, with the top panels being glazed. The projecting gable features a window on each floor, and there is an integral end stack on the right with a stone base and paired diagonal brick shafts that have stepped capping. A similar ridge stack is located on the rear range, close to where it meets the main range. Additionally, the rear range includes a 2-storey lean-to at the angle with the main range.
The interior was not inspected during the survey.
