Southern Cottage at Home Farm

Southern Cottage at Home Farm is a 2-storey T-plan building dating from the 18th century. It features a projecting gabled range to the left that extends to the rear. The exterior is made of irregularly coursed rubblestone, topped with a slate roof that has coped verges and carved kneelers. The long range includes a 4-panel door set beneath a prominent gabled timber porch, which has an open king-post truss in the gable and lattice work on the sides. This is flanked by two 12-paned, 2-light windows on the ground floor, and there are two large 20th-century rooflights above. The projecting gabled range has a tall 6-paned casement window on the first floor, which is centered above a canted bay window. The bay window features a 2-light 16-paned casement in the center, flanked by two 8-paned lights. There is a prominent integral end stack to the right of the main range and a truncated external lateral stack on the left return of the projecting range. The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey.
