Description

The horse drinking trough and fountain is built into the park wall of Penrhyn Castle. It features a round-arched recess in three orders, constructed from Anglesey limestone, which slightly projects from the park wall. The inner arch frames a niche with a copper pipe that discharges water through a carved shell into a lobed trough below, which has a moulded rim. An inscription around the inner arch notes that the structure was erected by George Hay Dawkins Pennant on 17 February 1834.
