Description
Wood Cottage is a Grade II listed building designed in the Mild Picturesque Gothic style, characteristic of the Newborough Estate. The original structure is a 2-storey cross-plan, with a large single-storey addition from the 20th century loosely attached to the southeast. The 19th-century building is constructed of roughly coursed rubblestone and features a slate roof with deep overhanging verges and exposed purlin ends, using similar materials as the 20th-century extension.
The north gable includes a half-glazed door topped with a large decorative blind cross shape at the apex. To the left of the front wall, there is a wooden cross-window. The west gable features a 2-light window with three horizontal glazing bars on the first floor and a similar 3-light window on the ground floor. The east gable has a 4-paned sash window on the ground floor. A tall stack rises from the ridge of the south gable, while the 20th-century extension has a large 4-light window in its south gable end. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey.
