Description

Tafarn y Werin is a three-storey shop and house dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of scribed stucco with a slate roof and a brick stack on the left side. The ground-floor windows do not line up with those above, indicating the building’s original commercial purpose and the presence of a side passage. A replaced door is located to the left of centre on the ground floor, set beneath a late 19th-century overlight. Large two-pane horned sash windows are situated to either side of the door, and a panelled passage door with an overlight is at the right end of the ground floor. A late 20th-century fascia is positioned above the lower storey. The middle storey features twelve-pane sash windows, and the upper storey has shorter, nine-pane hornless sash windows with thin glazing bars.
