Description
25-27 High Street is a pair of shops with houses above, featuring a roughcast front with rusticated quoin strips and a slate roof that has roughcast end stacks on the front slope. The building stands three storeys tall and has two windows, with No 27 being narrower than No 25. The windows on the middle and upper storeys have been replaced but are set within moulded architraves that include sill bands. In the upper storey, the replacement windows are positioned lower than the original windows, which were directly beneath the eaves.
The lower storey has shop fronts, with No 25 likely dating from the late 19th century. It features fluted pilasters and a plain fascia that incorporates a pediment above the central doorway. The replaced double half-lit doors are located beneath a thin segmental arch, with the moulding continuing as nook shafts. The flanking windows are two-light with arched heads, thin turned mullions, and capitals. The stallboard is boarded over. No 27 has a replaced half-lit door to the left under an overlight, and a plate glass window to the right, both in original openings with moulded architraves. This building is part of a group with 25-27 High Street.
