Description
Penychain Farmhouse is a building constructed from rubble stonework and topped with a slate roof. The main garden front, which faces north, features three bays and has a gable end that faces the road. There is a rear wing adjacent to the road, which extends to a shorter cross range on the south side. In the center of the north front, there is a margin-glazed door with a five-pane rectangular overlight, set beneath a flat canopied concrete porch supported by iron Corinthian columns. The house has four-pane sash windows on both floors and gable end stacks. The rear wing consists of three bays, with timber windows and a gable end stack, while the south range is hipped in and runs west, also featuring a gable end stack. The garden is enclosed by a high stone wall, which forms a rectangle that includes the main yard and farm buildings. The side entry to the rear yard on the south side of the rear wing retains the original metal slat gate.
