Description
Pen-yfed Farmhouse is a two-storey building constructed of whitewashed rubble stonework and topped with a slate roof. It has three main bays, with a fourth bay extending beyond an axial stack on the northeast side, likely built at the same time. The second bay features a four-panelled door with an overlight and a cantilevered gabled canopy. The windows are three-light timber panes, with the central casement sliding laterally. These windows have narrow panes and a vertical bar over the centre opening light, all supported by timber lintels. The house has gable and axial blue brick stacks, one of which is rendered.
At the rear, there is a low service wing with a gable stack, along with a lean-to structure against the back of the main house in the southwest angle, and a gable at the rear of the fourth bay.
The front garden is raised and fully enclosed on three sides by spear-headed cast iron railings set on a low stone wall. A gate is hung on monolithic stone jambs that flank the path leading to the front door. The interior was not seen during the inspection.
