Description
This is a one-and-a-half storey house with an attached lofted cartshed block, situated at Cysulog. The house is mainly stone with a slate roof, incorporating some weatherboarding. A large rectangular stone chimney is situated to the right. A gabled dormer window features a dripstone over a wooden casement. On the ground floor, a doorway is located to the left, accessed via a boarded door, and a window to the right. Later doorways are present in the left gable end. To the right, the house is linked to the cartshed by an extending roof creating a covered open bay.
The cartshed block comprises two bays with a weatherboarded upper storey featuring two small windows. To the right, a stone staircase leads to a doorway with a boarded door at loft level.
Inside, the doorway opens onto a lobby containing a wooden stair. The lobby features stop-chamfered joists and a beam above a partition with horizontal boarding, which separates the lobby from a rear room, also with stop-chamfered joists and a small rear window. A post-and-panel partition includes a doorway with a shallow ogee head. The main room displays a large longitudinal beam and stop-chamfered joists. The fireplace has a stop-chamfered bressumer, which has been narrowed in brick. A blocked window is located to the rear of this room. At upper level, two rooms are divided by a partition containing one blocked doorway and a later doorway. The roof structure is largely intact, with curved principal rafters and two sets of heavy purlins. An old window frame partly survives.
The left gable boasts an extremely fine moulded plaster panel depicting strapwork, a heraldic shield with the monogram "D LL" and a rose, and the date "1650”. The right gable displays a raised plaster date "1652”.
