Description
The lychgate at the Church of St Beuno is set in the churchyard wall and dates back to 1698. It is constructed from rubble stonework and features a slate roof supported by coped gables on kneelers. Five rounded steps lead up to the passage, which is closed off by boarded timber gates with strap hinges set in an outer rebate. The gateposts extend to a high cross transom with an inserted plank arch. Inside the passage, there are timber seats on each side. On the southwest gable end, there is a slate displaying a heraldic eagle on a lozenge, along with the inscription: MRS A M E JONES / O'R PARKIAU A RODD / YR ADEILAD HON / 1698 / PAM OEDD / H JONES RECTOR / W WYNE ESQ R IOHN WADENIED.
