Description
The entrance piers, gates, and steps to the lychgate at the Church of St Beuno and St Mary are notable features. They consist of two square-section piers made of dressed sandstone, topped with moulded capstones. An arched iron overthrow is fixed to the capstones, featuring scrolls at the bases and an ornamental iron lamp at the top. Between the stone piers, there are double cast iron gates that have lancet heads beneath the top rails and plain finials. The gates also include a lock rail decorated with quatrefoils, dog rails, and a base rail with quatrefoils. To access the lychgate from the entrance gates, there are three flights of stone steps with moulded treads, which are flanked by high rubble stone walls.
