Description
Bryn-y-wern is a 17th-century house built with rubble slate masonry and features a slate roof. It has one storey and an attic, comprising four bays. The house includes a blocked wide door at the center of each side, each with a label moulding over a segmental arch made of long slate voussoirs. A 12-pane sash window has been inserted into the recessed blocking stonework. On either side, there is a boarded door and a 12-pane window on the ground floor, along with two raised dormers featuring 9-pane sashes for the first floor. The building has coped gables and stone chimney stacks, with outbuildings attached to the rear. According to the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, there is a decorated and stop-chamfered beam from the 17th century, although it was not seen during the inspection and may have been reused in the former barn.
