Description
The lychgate to the Church of St Cynhaearn is a structure built of rubble stonework with mortar, topped by an old irregularly sized slate roof. It features a gated stile on the side of a stone-built storeroom added to the west. Each face of the lychgate has openings with slate lintels, and the gable walls are designed to enclose stone benches on either side inside. The roof is made of pine, covered with slates that are fully torched, supported by a single tier of purlins. A cast iron gate is also part of the structure. To the southwest, the lychgate is extended by a churchyard store that has a lower pitched old slate roof.
Inside the lychgate, several 18th-century slate headstones are fixed to the internal walls, including those of WK 1728, Jane Daniel from 1761, Thomas Rowland from 1757, and Jane Jones from 1776.
