Description
Pentrefelin Church Hall is a building constructed from selected hard, roughly-squared rubble stone, topped with a slate roof. It is a single cell structure with rounded corners, divided internally, and features a lean-to vestry on the north side. Access is through a recessed door at the west end, which is set within a tall round arch. The sides of the arch splay back to reveal a pair of panelled doors with a fanlight above. There are round-headed niches centrally located on both tapering sides, and in front of the entrance, there are two semi-circular steps. Above the arch in the gable, there is a circular oculus that contains the bell. The building has round-headed windows at the west rounded corners, with the main windows being multi-paned and featuring flat iron glazing bars—five on the south side and four on the north, all equipped with slate sills and lintels directly beneath the angled boxed eaves. The walls are rounded at the east end, which has a high-level window. The roof extends over the vestry, which also has rounded north corners and angled boxed eaves. At the west end, there is a small tower with timber sides shaped like a cross, partially louvred, with a slated skirt and a two-stage swept roof.
Inside, the nave consists of five roof bays, ceiled at collar level, with angled rod ties extending from the centre of the tie beams. The floor is made of wood blocks, and the walls are plastered. The raised chancel area is separated by a chancel arch and has a slate floor. At the west end, flanking the re-entrant door, there is a baptistry on the south side and an organ on the north side. An inscription on the south wall of the chancel commemorates the building of the church for Reverend Francis Williams, who passed away in 1981.
