Description
Carreg-felin is a two-storey building with an attic, constructed of stone rubble, while an added wing features a rendered and pebbledashed exterior. The building is topped with slate roofs and has tall chimney stacks with drip courses. The main range includes a central doorway leading to a former stair hall, which is now open to the gable parlour and the main living room. The windows are 19th century four-pane sashes, with a tripartite paned sash in the living room, and there are two gabled dormers on the main range. The wing consists of three bays and has gable stacks, with the first bay extending across the gable of the earlier structure.
The end parlour has been modernised, and its chimney stack has been removed. A central dog-leg stair, dating from around 1700, features a moulded handrail supported by turned balusters and panelled newels, positioned against a post and panel partition in the main living room. This room contains an axial fireplace with a chamfered fire beam that has scoop stops. The windows have deep reveals and seats. The main cross beams are deeply chamfered, with one being particularly massive, and there are exposed subsidiary joists, also chamfered. The roof trusses are constructed with a high-set double pegged collar and raking struts, supporting two tiers of purlins. The cross wing features three cruck-like trusses that rise from the wall to the apex.
