Description
Cornhill Cottage and Limekiln Cottage are a pair of two-storey, two-window houses. They are built of large slate-stone blocks laid in regular courses and have a slate roof with two later stacks rendered in roughcast. Cornhill Cottage, on the left, has a replacement glazed front door and replacement two-light casement windows set within the original openings. Limekiln Cottage has a former doorway on the right, now a window, alongside an enlarged modern window to the left. The upper storey of Limekiln Cottage also has two-light casement windows in original openings. A modern rear wing, rendered in pebble-dash and painted white, provides access to the cottages and has a modern glazed door. A boarded door and overlight, located on the left side of Cornhill Cottage at street level, provides access to the yard behind No. 15 Cornhill.
Two revetment walls retain the steep ground from street level to the entrances of the cottages. These walls are constructed of coursed, unworked slate-stone. The lower revetment wall has a concrete coping, alongside gateways featuring slate orthostats, leading to slate steps that rise to the houses. Coping courses are also present on the return walls of both revetments. The cottages belong to a group with other buildings on Cornhill.
