Description
This is a 4-storey, 4-bay block constructed of large blocks of slate-stone laid in regular courses, with a slate roof and ridge stacks located to the left of centre and on the left-hand ridge. The front elevation features unequal, outer gabled bays at Nos 2 and 5. The left-hand bay (No 2) has replacement windows, with larger windows on the lower storey, and an entrance offset to the right, featuring a half-glazed door and side panel which replaced a larger original door. No 3 has a replacement half-glazed door and overlight on the right side, accompanied by a 2-pane sash window to its left. While the 2nd storey window has been replaced, the 3rd and 4th storeys retain earlier 2-pane sash windows. No 4 has a panel door and overlight, with a 16-pane hornless sash window to its left. The 2nd and 3rd storeys have similar windows, and the 4th storey has a shorter 12-pane sash window. No 5, beneath the right-hand gable, features a half-glazed panel door and a 2-light small-pane window to its left. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th storeys each have 18-pane sash windows where loading doors previously existed, with a pulley block above the upper-storey window.
The right-hand end wall (No 5) shows the outline of a former 1-storey gabled building and has replacement 2-light windows on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th storeys. The left-hand 2-window end (No 2) also has replacement windows, along with a lean-to structure with a blocked window facing the front. A garage with double doors, set under a steel lintel, is situated at the left-hand end. The building belongs to a group known as 2-5 Pencei (Cornhill).
