Description
8 Pencei is a 3½-storey, 2-window house that shares a roof with Nos 7-10 but is separated from the later No 7 by a full-height vertical joint. The building is constructed of large slate-stone blocks laid in regular courses and features a slate roof with added skylights and shared stone stacks. The openings are offset to the right. The main entrance, located on the right, has a replacement half-glazed boarded door set in an unusually wide doorway. To the left of the entrance, another doorway has been converted into a window. The middle and upper storeys contain 4-pane horned sash windows, with the right-hand window in each storey originally being a doorway. The rear of the house has replacement windows.
The lower storey, which is said to have formerly been a shop, is now a single room. It includes a wooden newel stair leading to the middle storey, which is likely either re-used or re-set. The middle storey consists of two rooms, with a partition that retains a small-pane window, and the front room features a slate fireplace lintel. The dog-leg stair leading to the upper storey is a later addition. The roof has two purlins on each side.
