Description
This is a 4-storey, 4-bay block built of large blocks of slate-stone, laid in regular courses, and covered by a slate roof with a ridge stack to the left of centre and to the left-hand ridge. The building forms part of a group located at 2-5 Cornhill, which was formerly known as 2-5 Pencei.
The front facade features unequal, gabled bays at numbers 2 and 5. The left-hand bay (number 2) has replacement windows, with larger windows on the lower storey, and a recessed entrance to the right, featuring a half-glazed door with side panel that replaced a larger original door. Number 3 has a replacement half-glazed door and overlight on the right-hand side, alongside a 2-pane sash window to its left. The second storey of number 3 has a replacement window, while the third and fourth storeys retain earlier 2-pane sash windows. Number 4 features a panel door with overlight, a 16-pane hornless sash window to its left, and similar windows on the second and third storeys; the fourth storey has a shorter 12-pane sash window. Number 5, situated under the right-hand gable, has a half-glazed panel door with a 2-light small-pane window to its left. The second, third and fourth storeys of number 5 all have 18-pane sash windows where loading doors once stood, with a pulley block above the upper-storey window.
The right-hand end wall (number 5) still shows the outline of a former 1-storey gabled building, and has replacement 2-light windows in the second, third and fourth storeys. The left-hand end (number 2), with two windows, also features replacement windows and a lean-to projecting forward with a blocked window facing the front. A garage with double doors, set under a steel lintel, is located at the left-hand end of the building.
