Description

The carthouse block at Cwm Main is a rectangular, two-storey structure that also serves as a granary. It features a lower addition that is flush to the left side. The building is constructed from local rubble and has a medium-pitched slate roof. The facade of the carthouse is symmetrical, featuring three depressed-arched entrances with rough-dressed granite voussoirs. Above the two central piers are plaques inscribed with 'E P Builder 1867' and 'R.J.Ll.P 1867'. On the upper granary floor, there are three equally spaced windows with 18th-century wooden cross-windows, which were formerly leaded and appear to have been reused from the farmhouse, along with projecting stone sills. The lower adjoining block has a wide open entrance to the left and two windows to the right. At the rear of the carthouse block, which faces the yard, there is a boarded door to the left and two fixed four-pane windows on the upper floor, situated under the eaves. Additionally, there are three plain entrances to the lower block. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
